Car recovery from £120. Call 020 8088 4032 for an exact price.
The South Circular grinding through Wandsworth Town, the A3 climbing West Hill towards Tibbet's Corner, a Thames bridge with no room to pull over: Wandsworth is a tough place to break down. Roadside Assistance Group runs a 24/7 recovery service right across the borough, from Nine Elms to Roehampton, and we aim to reach you within 45 minutes in London. Ring 020 8088 4032 now.
What you should do depends on where the car has stopped.
On a busy high street or the South Circular: move into a side road or a bay if the car will still roll. If it won't, flick the hazards on, climb out kerbside and wait on the footway, never in the gap between your bumper and the queue behind.
On a bridge: Putney, Wandsworth, Battersea, Albert and Chelsea bridges have no hard shoulder. Hazards on, then walk to the pavement if you can do it safely, and stay well clear of the car. Only put a warning triangle out if you can do so without stepping into traffic. The Highway Code suggests placing it at least 45 metres behind the car on ordinary roads.
On the A3 past West Hill: beyond Tibbet's Corner the A3 widens to three lanes each way with a 40mph limit, so traffic moves faster here than anywhere else in the borough. Steer right over to the nearside. Where leaving the car isn't safe, stay in your seat with your belt on and call 999, as the Highway Code advises for faster roads.
Once everyone is safe, phone us and tell us your direction of travel and the nearest junction.
Battersea and Nine Elms. Battersea Park Road and York Road (A3205) run east to west past Battersea Power Station and Battersea Park towards Wandsworth. New Covent Garden Market is in this corner of the borough too, and Chelsea Bridge links Battersea Park with the north bank.
Clapham Junction and Wandsworth Common. The A3 and the South Circular (A205) share the road along Battersea Rise, Wandsworth Common North Side and East Hill, down into Wandsworth. Trinity Road (A214) starts as a dual carriageway near Wandsworth, then runs south past Wandsworth Common towards Tooting Bec.
Wandsworth Town. Everything funnels into the town centre's one-way system around Wandsworth High Street, Armoury Way and Swandon Way, next to the Southside shopping centre. Garratt Lane (A217) heads south from here through Earlsfield and Summerstown, and Wandsworth Bridge carries the A217 over the river to Fulham.
Putney and Roehampton. The South Circular leaves the A3 at West Hill and runs along Upper Richmond Road through Putney. Putney High Street and Putney Hill (A219) link Putney Bridge with Tibbet's Corner. From there the A3 becomes Kingston Road and runs through Roehampton Vale towards Kingston.
Balham and Tooting. The A24 comes in from Clapham South as Balham Hill and Balham High Road, then continues as Upper Tooting Road and Tooting High Street to Tooting Broadway, where it meets Garratt Lane close to St George's Hospital.
We recover cars throughout Battersea, Nine Elms, Clapham Junction, Wandsworth Town, Wandsworth Common, Earlsfield, Southfields, Putney, Putney Heath, Putney Vale, Roehampton, West Hill, Balham, Tooting, Tooting Bec, Furzedown, Summerstown and Streatham Park.
Postcodes: SW11 and SW18 in full, most of SW15, plus the Wandsworth parts of SW4, SW8, SW12, SW16, SW17 and SW19.
Tell us where you'd like it. We can drop it outside your home, deliver it to the garage you prefer, whether that's round the corner in Tooting or across town, or haul it to another part of the country, which helps if you were only passing through on the A3.
Don't wait at the roadside wondering what to do. Call 020 8088 4032, day or night. We aim to reach you within 45 minutes in London, recovery starts from £120, and the price is fixed during the call. Stuck on a bridge, a common or a side street off Garratt Lane? 020 8088 4032 is the number to ring.
Hazards on first. When it's safe, move everyone to the pavement, well back from the car. There's no hard shoulder on the bridges, so leave pushing and repairs alone. Call us and tell us which bridge you're on and which way you were heading.
Every part of Wandsworth counts: we aim to reach you within 45 minutes in London.
Traffic is faster there, as the A3 becomes a three-lane dual carriageway with a 40mph limit. Pull over to the extreme left. If climbing out would be risky, keep your belt done up and phone 999, then ring us when you're out of danger.
It's £120 upwards. Phone 020 8088 4032 and we'll quote the exact amount.
